Blueberry Glazed Chicken Wings
Story
I’m a big fan of combining sweet and savory flavors. I mean, a big fan. Give me fruit in my meat dishes, a bit of jam in my sauce, a little sugar with my spice—and I’m a happy cook. So when the idea of pairing blueberries with chicken wings popped into my head, I knew I was onto something worth exploring.
Years ago, I created a sweet and sticky chicken wing recipe using apricot jam in the glaze. It was an instant hit—sweet, tangy, finger-licking good. But lately, I’ve been thinking… what else could hit those same notes while offering something new? Enter: the blueberry.
Not just blueberry jam (though that’s in there, too), but also fresh blueberries, freshly squeezed lemon juice, minced ginger, a splash of soy sauce, and a few savory touches that round out the flavor. The result? A heavenly, sweet-meets-umami glaze that hugs each wing with sticky, glossy, flavor-packed intensity.
Oh—and did I mention this recipe is Mom-approved?
Yep. Mom, who has a deep and abiding love for two fruits—cherries and blueberries—gave this recipe her full blessing. (She’s skeptical of cherries in a glaze like this, and honestly, I agree. But blueberries? They were born for this dish.)
These wings are great as an appetizer, party snack, or as a full meal with a summery side salad. They’re different enough to feel gourmet, but simple enough for a weeknight dinner. And trust me—once you taste that sweet-savory glaze caramelized over crispy wings, you’ll be hooked.
Bon Appetit, friends!
